Full form of AM and PMAM PM Meaning AM stands in short for Ante Meridiem, de latin name for “Before Midday” or “Before Noon”. An example: 10.00 a.m. is 10 o-clock in the morning. With a 24 hour time this is 10:00. PM stands in short for Post Meridiem, de latin name for “After Midday” or “After Noon”.

When you split something into two equal parts, each part is half of the whole
– When you split something into four equal parts, each part is a quarter of the whole.


HALF PAST

Half-past twelve means the same thing as 12:30. 
The minute hand has moved halfway around the clock. Doesn’t it look like half of a circle?

1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 can all be described as half past 1, half past 2, and half past 3.


Quarter Past

Quarter past twelve is the same as 12:15.
The minute hand has moved a quarter way around the clock. Doesn’t it look like a quarter of a circle?

Tip: At a quarter past, the hour hand won’t point exactly at any of the hour numbers. It will have moved a little after it.
Super tip: At quarter past, the minute hand always points to the 3!

Quarter past 1, quarter past 2 and quarter past 3 are all ways of describing 1:15, 2:15 and 3:15.


Quarter To

Quarter to is the opposite of quarter past.
Quarter to 12 is the same as 11:45. It means there is a quarter of an hour (15 minutes) left until 12:00. A quarter to 12 is before 12:00.

Twelve o’clock is the same as 12:00.
The minute hand is at the top of the clock on the 12.
